Ryan Peters My journey in to the world of fitness started early in my life when I played practically every youth sport available. My favorites were soccer and football, which I played through high school until I injured my shoulder in football. Through my injury and the rehab process after surgery, I developed a passion for weightlifting and bodybuilding that I had not had until it had been taken away from me! Soon after I was released to begin lifting again, I started with the P90X program and followed it religiously for a few years. But there came a time when that wasn’t enough. I was still not able to fully press weight over my head properly and my progress had come to a halt. That is, until I found CrossFit. This new, controversial fitness program drew me in and I was completely hooked. Every plateau I had hit was shattered and after a few short months of actively striving to improve. I could now do everything the doctor said I would never be able to do again. And more importantly, I was having more fun doing it than I had ever had working out before! The success I have had is something I believe God has given me so that I would, in turn, share it with others. That is why I define my interest in fitness as a passion rather than just another hobby. I chose my path in college based on my passion for fitness and I recently graduated from the University of Arkansas with my Bachelor in Exercise Science with plans to pursue a Masters in Strength and Conditioning. I am also an L1 Certified CrossFit Trainer and an NASM CPT.
Eric Jones I began my fitness journey about 15 years ago in the United States Army, where I excelled in the army physical training program and led other soldiers to improve their PT scores and overall fitness. After leaving the army, I focused my fitness mostly on weightlifting, but I knew I wanted to do more. I always enjoyed fitness and working with others who shared similar goals and interests related to living a healthy life. At that point, I decided to become a personal trainer. I was certified through the International Sports Science Association (ISSA), and I spent several years working with individuals and groups, specializing in weight loss, strength training, circuit training and boot camp. I loved helping others achieve their fitness goals, and I was happy with what I was doing. Then I discovered CrossFit, and a whole new idea of fitness was opened up to me. Since then, my fitness journey and growth as a trainer and overall “fit” person has been amazing. CrossFit has changed my training, my goals in fitness, and my ability to help others succeed every day. In being part of CrossFit, I have gained so much, including an awesome new level of fitness and a true sense of community with my CrossFit family.
Tony Bourland In 2009 I suffered from obesity. I weighed in at about 315. My goal was to get fit and do it quick. I had an extremely supportive girlfriend, Holly Rosen, who is now my wife, and couple of friends that were trainers who worked out at the gym. With their knowledge and my determination I hit my goals and more! I lost 75 pounds and entered my first modeling show ever. This journey inspired me to help others and go back to school to finish my degree. I received a Bachelor of Science in pre-athletic training at the University of Arkansas. I’m CPT certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and have a certification as a L1 Trainer in CrossFit. I have been training for about five years and teaching CrossFit for about four months. My goal as a trainer is to give back what I was given in my journey to fitness. The comradery of Cross Fit is unique and the will to succeed is contagious. Every day I am humbled by my own workout or the programming we have set for our athletes. Our mission here at Hog Wild is to help anyone achieve their fitness journey. I promise that you will be the most fit you’ve ever been here at Hog Wild CrossFit!!! 5….4….3….2….1…..Have Fun!!!!!!
Joanie Johnson My love of fitness began at an early age with gymnastics and cheerleading. I found that the more I moved my body and challenged myself physically, the happier I became. In 2006, I became an ACE certified personal trainer. I initially started by training moms, boot camp style, with their babies/strollers in tow. I discovered since then, that fitness, especially in a group setting is my passion! Over the years, I’ve tried lots of exercise programs, but always felt that something was missing…that is until I found CrossFit. What makes CrossFit so successful as an exercise program is our unique mindset and comradery. Gone are the days of working out aimlessly, hoping to see the scales go down. In CrossFit, we do not just workout, we train for life. We train to be better, more capable human beings. We support each other, watch each other grow and transform into our best selves. The byproduct of this mindset and comradery, is the best body and fitness that you will ever experience! I am more fit, strong and happy now at 33 than I was in my 20s, and I know that I will be even more so in my 40s. I am thrilled to be part of this wonderful team of coaches and look forward to helping you realize your potential in health and fitness.
